Description
A Meissen porcelain part dinner service in the Indian pattern 20th century Comprising twenty-four 10 3/4in dinner plates; twelve 8 1/4in reticulated dessert plates; twelve 8in salad plates; twelve 6 3/8in bread and butter plates; twenty-three tea cups and dished saucers; teapot; covered sugar; cream jug; soup tureen, height 10in, width across handles 13 1/2in ; pair of covered vegetable dishes; pair of reticulated compotes, height 8 5/8in ; platter, length 19 1/2in ; tray, length 14 1/2in ; serving bowl, diameter 11in and pair of figural open salts; underglaze blue crossed swords. (119) Provenance: Property from the Estate of June Ebensteiner, West Lake Village, California.
Condition
In overall generally good condition with typical wear from light use, including a few scattered abrasions. Some wear to gilding. Some plates with light stacking wear. A few with pinprick dimples to glaze, a few with filed down popped air bubble. Three dished saucers with a fleabite to near a pointed edge. One dished saucer with firing crack to underside of rim (glazed over, approximately 1/4in in length). One dished saucer with firing crack to footrim (approximately 1/4in length). One dished saucer with chip to rim (1/4 x 1/2in). One dished saucer with chip to foot rim. Tureen with two small circular stains to interior and chipping around footrim. Serving bowl with two white paint marks to underside. One covered vegetable lid with firing crack to flange. Other covered vegetable lid with some small kiln chips to flange. Covered sugar lid with losses to the rose finial and stem. A few fleabites to rim of cream jug. Teapot with a white paint mark to one side. Figural salt with boy has a small fleabite to rim of his hat. Figural salt with girl has a fleabite to tip of her shoe and two small fleabites to footrim and small loss to her bouquet of flowers. One dessert plate with small chip to footrim. One dessert plate with three small chips to the footrim. One dinner plate with some staining lines. Two teacups with chip to rim. One teacup with fleabite to rim. One teacup with chip to footrim. Unless mentioned above, otherwise good condition.
