Description
**First Time At Auction**
Central Asia, India, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A cast-brass depiction of Vishnu, one of the principal deities of Hinduism, known as the preserver in the Hindu trinity (Trimurti) which also includes Brahma and Shiva. Cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process, the figure is shown seated atop an integral tiered plinth and holds a certain attribute in each hand. Vishnu wears an elaborate headdress with a conical finial, wears elegant vestments over a finely-modeled body, and is covered in fine patina. Size: 2.25" W x 4.5" H (5.7 cm x 11.4 cm).
Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.

Condition
Slight bending to some arms, and light fading to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits within recessed areas, and nice patina throughout.
