**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Near East, Sumeria or Babylon, ca. 2nd to 1st millennium BCE. A lovely cast-bronze bowl with a rounded base, sloping walls, a shallow interior cavity, and a thin rim. A pair of vertical rectangular panels on the exterior displays an ancient Sumerian-style script written on the side which may have been added in later times, though the characters appear illegible. Covered in dark layers of brown and green patina, this is a wonderful example from the ancient Near East! Size: 4" W x 1.875" H (10.2 cm x 4.8 cm).

Expected age-commensurate surface wear, small nicks to rim and base, otherwise intact and excellent. Nice earthen deposits as well as brown and green patina throughout. Ancient script appears to have been added later and is illegible.
