Description
**Originally Listed At $300**
Greece, Cyprus, Middle to Early Late Bronze Age, ca. 2000 to 1550 BCE. A thin, light, and petite pottery handled vessel with a rounded base, thin walls and rim, and a parabolic handle. The body features incised vertical lines and dots on the exterior that lead to its lowest point, giving it a starburst motif when viewed from below. The fantastic surface on the bowl is probably the result of it having been lost in a shipwreck - an unfortunate fate for Cypriot vessels, which were traded throughout the eastern Mediterranean during this time. Size: 6.7" W x 4.05" H (17 cm x 10.3 cm)
This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report is available for purchase. Please inquire.
Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

Condition
Intact, with surface wear commensurate with age including some chips, nicks, and scratches. Extensive encrusted patina suggests it was lost in a shipwreck or otherwise deposited in water with a lot of minerals in it. Great deposits do not obscure the form. TL drill holes beneath base and beneath uppermost curve of handle.
