Bolton Coit Brown was an American painter, lithographer and teacher, born in Dresden, New York. He was a co-founder of the Byrdcliffe Art Colony in Woodstock, New York in 1903, after leaving his position as a professor in the art department at Stanford University. Brown was smitten with the lithographic process and produced a large body of work using the medium.
