Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997)- Aspen Winter Jazz Feb 26 '67 Serigraph Dimension: 40 x 25 3/4" Frame: 40 1/4 x 26 1/4". Plexi frame 1 1/4" width. Published by Leo Castelli Gallery for the Aspen Jazz Festival in 1967. Printed by Chiron Press, New York. Printed on heavy paper. The project was initiated by John an Kimiko Powers who invited several leading jazz musicians to participate in a weekend called the Aspen Jazz Festival in 1967. Page 82 #44 of "The Prints of Roy Lichtenstein" a catalogue raisonne 1948-1993. Great half-tone Ben Day dots and a comic strip inspired jazz compostion of a headless musician playing a saxaphone wearing a suit and bow tie, guitar strings and cymbals.
Condition
very nice condition aside slight bleed atop letter "A" and top corner letter "Z" and lower corners, all of which are commonly seen. Blemishes in margins, otherwise overall impact is great vintage. Beautiful distinct sharpt color tones. Expensive period frame w/ few blemishes up close.
