American Federal Mahogany Cellarette in the Sheraton Taste

first quarter 19th century, probably Boston, the face and lift-top with line inlay, the top opening to reveal a divided interior, raised on reeded legs on brass cups, the bottom constructed of white pine.

In good "as found" condition. The piece exhibits normal mars, abrasions, shrinkage and indications of age and use. There is a filled shrinkage crack in the top. There is a small chip/loss to a corner of the top's front vertical surface. Lock-set present; no key. The interior is now lined in later baize. There is a replaced strip of mahogany across the lower back edge of the lift-top, about 1-1/2" high, presumably there due to past breakage at the hinges. Legs are tight. Brass cups appear original. Missing casters.
