Description
DESCRIPTION: Pair of modernist sterling silver three light candelabra by Anthony Hawksley, London. Circa 1962. Each with London 1962 hallmark and Hawksley maker's mark. Purchased from Payne & Son Goldsmiths Limited, Oxford, in 2001. Anthony Hawksley (1921-1991) taught silversmithing in Birmingham and Oxford and set up a workshop in his own home retailing silver and jewelry as well as commissioning pieces for Oxford and private collectors, pioneering an acid etch technique in the 60's. In 1981 he exhibited at the Westminster Gallery, Boston, USA and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London has a silver collar he made in the 1960's. He had his workshop at home until he died in 1991. MEASUREMENTS: Each 14" wide x 7" deep x 12" high. 55.2 ozt. for pair. CONDITION: No defects noted.
