Incisione in rame di 263x200 mm. più margini. Ottimo esemplare.
Bella mappa di Tolomeo incisa dal Ruscelli. Mappa dell'Ucraina e della regione a nord del Mar Nero. Mostra l'antica Sarmazia. Sono rappresentate 3 porte nelle catene montuose del Caucaso. Le “Alexandri columnae” presenti nella mappa si collocano in tempi odierni nell'attuale Georgia. La peculiarità di queste mappe è che sono incise due per lastra e successivamente tagliate; questo il motivo per cui il segno del rame appare solo in tre lati della mappa.

Beautiful map of Ptolemy engraved by Ruscelli. Map of Ukraine and the northern Black Sea region. Shows ancient Sarmatia. 3 gates are represented in the Caucasus mountain ranges. The "Alexandri columnae" on the map are located in the present Georgia. The peculiarity of these maps is that two are engraved per plate and subsequently cut; this is the reason why the copper sign appears only on three sides of the map.
