Mid 19th century, 170 x 133 cm, Central Asia, West Turkestan
A colourful hatchlu design door rug woven by the Igdir tribe. The four segments of the field are densely patterned with small diamonds composed of two halves. All three borders contain syrga designs. A comparative piece was exhibited in Hamburg in 1993. – Well preserved, the upper finish and the red-and-blue flatwoven selvedges are original, minimally reduced at the bottom, only insignificant signs of wear.
