Description
3 Marie Rogers (Meansville, GA, b. 1922) Face Jugs. Signed, one also inscribed: "Jesus Saves." Sizes ranging from: 5'' x 3'' x 3'' (13 x 8 x 8 cm) to 8.5'' x 5'' x 5'' (22 x 13 x 13 cm) Marie Rogers was one of the few women potters working in the folk pottery tradition. By 1967 she was making and firing face jugs and other folk pottery on her own and earning success and recognition as one of the few female potters in Georgia. Property from the Collection of Norman Girardot and Diane LaBelle.
