English, 1775
An oval tureen probably for stewing with deep body, embossed with unpierced basket weave horizontal handles. Lid with pierced basket weave. With two entwined creamware ropes forming a high arching handle; terminating in foliate springs; flower-head finial; beading on upper right and around foot.

Condition
On the cover; there is a yellowed area that appears to be a rim repair to the exterior of the banded edge on one end of the cover. Minute losses to glaze. On undertray; a hairline crack approx 4 in. long extending from the rim through the reticulated border. On tureen, minor glaze flakes and kiln frit on handles. A discolored 4 way spider hairline extending a total of 5 in. from the basin of the undertray.
