Description
Leeds, circa 1770.
The vertical reeding on lower body and on domed lid; flower finial; twisted and entwined rope handles. Author John D. Griffin (Leeds Pottery Volume I page 207 Figure 25`) believes the particular molded design on the spout to be unique to Leeds. Block molds for it exist in the Temple Newsom Collection. Condition
Lid has a tiny chip on the underside of the edge. Two firing cracks on the applied stem and the applied leaf. On the base of the coffee pot a tight discolored crack extending 1 1/8 inch down from the lip. The exterior near the rim has a glaze flake, very tiny glaze flakes along the rim. The spout has one tight discolored crack that extends 3/8 inches from the tip of the spout. Some loss to glaze at edge of spout. Some spots of discoloration in glaze.
