Description
SATSUMA MAGNUM POTTERY URNS, 19TH C, PAIR, H 30", DIA 27"Depicting a royal traveling party. One vase depicting the Emperor with priests, attendants, scholars, and scribes. The other depicts the Empress with her entourage of attendants, priests, scholars, and scribes. Provenance: from the Estate of George Palmer Indian Village, MI. Purchased DuMouchelles auction February. 1998.
Condition
Whilst these vases are monumental and impressive in both scale and quality, each has significant cracks that have been restored. Cracks run from the base, along the body, and to the base of the lip of each. We have taken numerous photographs. Surprisingly, these cracks do not distract from the overall appearance of the pair.
