Description
Edouard Gille (French, active 1868-1895), pair of Barbotine pottery urns, now mounted as lamps, each having a gold mottled brown ground, the reserve decorated with a rocky seashore with boats, one having a seated boy and one having a seated girl, on a rocky outcropping, with bronze-tone mounts, impressed "E.G." and "307" to the underside. Note: This mark has also been attributed to Emile Galle. Approx. of one, h. 22" (to top of socket), h. 13.5" (body).
Condition
Lamp with girl having an area of inpainting to the seashore scene likely masking a repair and flake to rocky outcropping, would recommend rewiring, both tested as working.
