ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE PEARLWARE CERAMIC PAIR OF SHEEP FIGURES, each recumbent on oval base with floral bocage to back, comprising a ram with curled antlers and a ewe, each having bold polychrome hand-painted decorations, decorated in the round. Open-bottomed. First half 19th century. 4 5/8" HOA.
Ewe in excellent visual condition with professional restoration to ears and bocage; ram having multiple glued repairs including base, left front leg, and bocage. Some manufacturing flaws, including firing separations, as made.
Provenance: From the James Dunn collection, Springfield, VT.
