Description
Abraham Lincoln Copper Bust on Frame from Lincoln Home
This fabulous relic has a provenance letter pasted to the verso, transmitting this item to a Texas collector. Of most importance is the May 18, 1910 label (somewhat damaged) "FROM / The Lincoln Home / Springfield, Ill", signed by A. S. Edwards, Custodian. The Edwards family connection to Lincoln is well documented.
A note at the bottom of the letter reads, "'LINCOLN HEAD' CAST IRON - COPPER PLATED MFG. BY CHICAGO HARDWARE FOUNDRY CO. NORTH CHICAGO, ILL. THE BOARD THE HEAD IS MOUNTED ON WAS SIDING OFF OF LINCOLNS HOME IN SPRINGFIELD, ILL. VERY FEW MADE."
A stunning item with fantastic provenance.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
