"Mosquitoes", William Faulkner, 1st/1st Printing, Ex. Richard Arlen

Boni and Liveright, New York, 1927. First Edition, First Printing, First State dust jacket with the "mosquitoes" design. Faulkner's satirical second novel about the residents of a New Orleans artistic colony who embark on a four-day yachting cruise. Provenance: From the library of Richard Arlen (1899-1976) American actor , with "Jobyna & Richard Arlen, 10025 Toluca Lake, N. Hollywood" ownership inscription on verso of front free endpaper. Arlen  is best known for his role as a pilot in the Academy Award-winning film, "Wings" (1927). 

Original blue cloth, lettered in yellow on front cover and spine; pictorial price clipped dust jacket. Cloth has a few minor rubbed spots,  The jacket has light  some minor rubbing, a few small chips at extremities, light toning to spine panel, and tape repair to verso of head of spine.
