Three Vintage Photographs of the Cuban Revolutionary Fidel Castro

A group of three excellent vintage photographs of Fidel Castro, of various sizes. The first, a sepia toned image, measuring 6" x 7.75", no place or date, shows Castro delivering an impassioned speech, concerning the Hero-City Volgograd, to a crowd. With pencil notations on verso.

The second image, measuring 10" x 6.25", Playa Giron, Cuba, dated June 17, 1961, is of a bespectacled Castro inspecting damage to a group of cottages following fighting in the CIA-led Bay of Pigs invasion. On verso are numerous newspaper clippings attached, along with stamps and pencil notations.

The final image, measuring 10" x 7.75", Havana, Cuba, dated May 20, 1964, depicts Castro speaking to a group of prisoners, the men of Brigade 2506. Castro is quoted as having said, "Have you ever in the history of the world heard of a country's leader talking so openly to those who have been captured trying to overthrow him?" The interrogation was televised, which ultimately backfired on him. On verso are numerous press captions, newspaper clippings, stamps and pencil notations. Photographs have varying degrees of light wear, as well as bumped edges and corners.
