(Joshua Chamberlain Certificate of Meritorious Service) Handsomely framed printed document engraved by the American Bank Note Co., presented on July 4th, 1868. With engraved vignettes of the war and it's leaders, this one was awarded to Oliver R. Small, as a testimonial to his honourable part in Maine's roll in the Civil War. With the bold but, alas, printed signature of Chamberlain as Governor of Maine, well known as the commander of the 20th Maine at the Battle of Gettsburg. Some minor vertical creasing, o/w NF.
