Description
**Originally Listed At $100**
Native American, North America, Eastern Woodland, ca. 200 to 1000 CE. A lovely group of hand-carved stone tools. First is a twin-lobed axe head with a full groove in the center, perhaps used with a short handle for shaping wood or softer stone. Second is a rectangular axe head with a thick body, a flat base, and a tapered striking edge; this was likely a hand tool. Woodland people developed agricultural techniques and produced many varieties of maize and other crops. Tools like these examples would have facilitated this process. Size of largest (hand axe): 5.25" L (13.3 cm).
Provenance: private Ventura County, California, USA collection, acquired in the 1980s to 1990s
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
