Pre-Columbian, central coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A mold-formed pottery relief figure with a cylindrical protrusion on the verso for attaching to a form-fitting tenon. The figure is depicted with elderly features like puffy eyes and deep nasolabial folds and wears elaborate garments with vertical bar patterns, a large-bead necklace, and hoop-form earrings. This figure was perhaps an individual of high standing or wealth based on the intricate aesthetics and dignified posture. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only.
