Description
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Earliest Horizon, Valdivian peoples, ca. 2300 to 2000 BCE. A fine necklace composed of dozens of small seed beads as well as 17 hand-built pottery Venus figures. The Venus figures are drilled through the head for suspension, and the terminals are capped with a modern loop and lobster clasp combination. A gorgeous and wearable accessory for any occasion! Size (necklace): 16" L (40.6 cm); size (central pendant): 0.5" W x 1.125" H (1.3 cm x 2.9 cm).

Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Beads and figures are ancient and stringing as well as metal components are modern. Losses to some pottery figures, small nicks to beads, and softening to some finer details. Light earthen deposits throughout.
