Description
A VINTAGE CHINESE CARVED CELADON JADE TRIPOD LIDDED CENSER, REPUBLIC PERIOD (1912-1949), in the archaistic style with tapering circular sides centering scrolling shallow relief details, flanked by large reticulated taotie masks suspending loop handles, surmounted by a conforming lid with stiff leaf banding and pierced beastly masks hung with loop handles, enclosing a reticulated qilon finial, raised on monopodiae with taotie mask carved hips ending in paw feet, on a custom hardwood stand, later fitted as a lamp. Height: 13" Width: 9" Depth: 6"
Condition
Good condition, with the pale green translucent jade and shading to darker on two legs, having normal inclusions with a few of grayish black color, drilled on base of bowl only, surface dust buildup throughout, electrical lamp fittings are old.
