Description
A CHINESE CARVED SPINACH JADE LIDDED CENSER, TOGETHER WITH AN AMETHYST SPECIMEN STONE FRAGMENT, 20TH CENTURY, the archaistic style tripod censer with a compressed bulbous body, flanked by dragon mask handles suspending circular loops and raised on taotie mask detailed monopodiae, surmounted by a conforming reticulated lid with three mythical beast handles centering a coiled dragon finial, possibly Republic Period (1912-1949), height: 5 1/8"; an amethyst specimen stone fragment, length: 6 1/4".
Condition
The censer is lacking three circular loop handles, one is repaired, minor surface marks and scratches, some tiny chips and surface buildup in crevices throughout. The amethyst specimen stone fragments is in good condition, has dust build up in crevices and has nice rich color crystals, Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
