This lot consists of a gouache and ink illustration on paper, done in the Pop Art style of Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987). "Andy Warhol" is inscribed at lower right corner of composition. This modern art image is a vibrant mimicry of a classic Coca-Cola advertisement. A larger-than-life Coke bottle cap floats in the middle of a blue plane, with the words "Enjoy Coca-Cola Classic" emblazoned across its surface. The bright white letters seem to leap off the page and forcibly grab the viewer's attention. A prime example of Warhol's Pop Art. This unframed piece measures approximately 11.75" x 8.25".

Reverse side of piece features three stamps. First stamp reads, "Art Gallery New York. 530 West 25th Street. New York, NY 10001". Second stamp reads, "The Estate of Andy Warhol". Third stamp reads, "Authorized by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts".

Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987) was a leader of contemporary art, which solidified the way that we now visualize the mid-century American era, its faces, and its mass culture. Warhol was a producer, director, printmaker, and illustrator who hailed from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From his beginnings in the commercial art world, Warhol held a firm grasp of popular image and advertising power. By the time of his death in 1987, Warhol's name would become synonymous with the Banana Factory, Studio 54, Campbell's Tomato Soup, and, most succinctly, Pop Art.
