Benin Openwork Iron Royal Wall Hanging, Palace of the Oba, symbol of the King's Ceremonial Sword, the Ebene. The Ebene was introduced in the 17th c. as symbolic of the King's power, Nigeria, 32" x 7 1/4". Corroded. Provenance: From the Estate of Thomas Cavanaugh of Maine and Florida.
