Suspension Hook (Samban or Tshambwan), Latmul people, Middle Sepik River region, mid 20th c., in carved wood with inlaid eyes, used for suspension of food stuffs in the rafters of a house, the figure meant to scare off vermin and bad spirits, spoilage. 44" x 11" x 5 1/2".
