Description
Attributed to Pauline Jacobus (1840-1930). Studio pottery vase hand decorated with a flowering white and pink hibiscus design under a glossy glaze. Signed and dated 1883 along the underside. Strikingly similar to the work of John Bennett (1840-1907).
Jacobus first began producing art pottery in Chicago the same year this vase was created in 1883. However, she would go on to establish her own pottery firm - "Pauline Pottery" - in 1888 after moving to Wisconsin.
