Item Details

Description

A pair of George III yewwood Windsor armchairs late 18th century

height 36in (91.5cm); width 21 3/4in (55cm); depth of seat 15 1/2in (39.5cm)

Condition

Structurally sound. In overall restored condition. With a reddish hue to timber overall as a result of previous stains to restore color in bleached timber and mask restorations. Fading and wear to surface particularly to crestrail makes and arms. General marks, nicks, scratches and cracking. One with repaired right arm and arm upright and spliced left arm. Same with rear right leg and stretcher replaced.
Other with central splat broken and repaired. Right arm broken at joint and repaired. Left arm broken at shaped upright and repaired. Crack to front of seat. Front right leg spliced. Both back legs beechwood - probably replaced.
