Description
Lambeth Pottery Works (English). A large pre John Doulton Regency Era saltglaze stoneware relief jug, with hallmarked Sterling silver lid and spout rim. Very unusual in its size, with an impressive and profuse array of encircling relief designs of hunting hounds, huntsmen, horses, a stag, trees and other flora, and a central relief portrait of Georgian Period gentlemen smoking pipes around a table, with a dog and other forms. Sterling silver marks for circa 1820, contemporaneous with the era when Lambeth pottery began production. Rich patina throughout, including Sterling outer lid, but inner lid has an excellent shine that exposes Sterling hallmarks. Good antique condition with age related wear. Measures 11 3/4 in. x 8 in. x 7 in. Hill Auction Gallery in house continental USA shipping $55 plus insurance. Gallery will refer a local shipper for international buyers.
