Description
Charlotte Horn Spiers, SWA (English, 1844-1914). Signed Victorian framed charger plate plaque, hand painted in an exceptional Aesthetic Movement style, with a central young woman in yellow bandana and blue green blouse, surrounded by an explosion of yellow and blue sunflowers and other flora. Artist signed to front CH SPIERS, by Mintons artist and Society of Women Artists inductee Spiers; signed and dated CH SPIERS 1882 to rear, with additional hand applied artist marks and notes. Presented in a sturdy, custom made black wood frame with central circular display area. Frame face has exquisite intricately designed applied metallic Celtic rune patterns enclosing the rectangular border. Good overall condition with age related wear to frame. Measures 16 in. diameter (sight), 22 1/4 in. x 22 1/4 in. Hill Auction Gallery will not ship. Gallery will refer a local shipper for international buyers.
