Description
William Bill Huebbe (American, 1929-2013). A pair of vintage standing monkey ape candelabra scones sculpted out of polymer resin. The monkeys have glass eyes and are costumed as Victorian footmen: they bear stoic expressions, and are hand colored in a red overcoat, and gold gilt vest waistcoat. In each outstretched paw they hold an engine turned brass candle socket. Each piece is signed and dated by the artist beneath the coat at the top of the animal’s tail. Good vintage condition with no loss. Rich patina. In a 1999 review, The New York Times described Huebbe’s art as a blend of “Constructivism, Tramp Art, and Geometric Abstraction." Measures 17 in. x 12 in. x 9 in. Hill Auction Gallery in house continental USA shipping $85 plus insurance. Gallery will refer a local shipper for international buyers.
