Lot Essay: At one point a ceramic tiler for a living, Gerard Valcin employed his knowledge of color and patterning to depict spiritually aware scenes from ceremonies, restaurant interiors, to agricultural celebrations. Valcin, who joined the Centre d'Art in 1950, is a master of color and one of the most renowned artists of his generation.
