Description
Roman Empire, ca. 1st-2nd century AD. A very rare depiction of a winged Hypnos, the god of sleep. Shown nude and standing in relaxed pose, his right hand resting upon his left shoulder and his head tilting to meet it.
Ex: Lars Anderson collection. Collected between 1890 and 1905. Donated to The Order Of The Cincinnati, Washington, D.C. in 1937.

Height with base: 18 1/2 inches / 47 cm. Height without base: 15 inches / 38 cm.
