Description
Nepal, ca. 15th-16th century. The four-armed god holding his usual attributes. Well and powerfully modeled, with lustrous gilding. Custom base.
Ex: Estate of Diran Dohanian, distinguished art historian and Asian art specialist. Most of Professor Dohanian's collection was formed in the 1960s-70s, beginning when he was residing in India conducting research for his book, "The Mahayana Buddhist Sculpture Of Ceylon." He later developed a keen interest in Japanese and Chinese scroll paintings, a number of which are included here.

Height with base: 12 1/2 inches / 31.5 cm. Height without base: 10 3/8 inches / 26.4 cm.
