Description
North America, Mexico, early Republic period, ca. 1830s CE. A gorgeous knife with a forged-steel, clip point blade bearing an openwork floral punch-out as well as a pair of curved tendrils along the ricasso. The sharpened edge tapers to an upturned, pointed tip, and the tang is fitted inside a carved ungulate bone handle capped on either end with brass adornments. The leather sheath features brass fittings on the top and bottom as well as an acorn-shaped belt clip on the upper fitting. Size (w/ sheath): 1.625" W x 16.1" H (4.1 cm x 40.9 cm); (length of blade): 9.9" L (25.1 cm)

Condition
Sheath has abrasions and old fissures along spine side, with old adhesive residue along break lines. Minor abrasions to blade, handle, and sheath, with some jagged edges along blade, a few stable hairline fissures on handle, and darkening to original sheath leather color; knife is intact and very good. Nice patina across knife, handle, and sheath.
