ZIA POLYCHROME BOWL by CANDELARIA GACHUPIN, ca. 1950s. Condition: Excellent Mark: On the bottom, in very indistinct pencil script, is the signature: "Candelaria Gachupin" Description: Well-shaped flat bottom bowl. Double black lines at the rim and hip. Four double vertical "red" tripes, (butterfly symbol), alternating with four diagonal white-on-black "petal" designs. The design motifs are typical Acoma, but they have been increased in size to fill the entire sidewall of the pot; similar to, but much more interesting than the use of ovals on a typical Santa Domingo bowl.
