Chanel Metallic Copper Python 2.55 Shoulder Bag W/Dust Cover - This exquisite and incredibly rare bag by Chanel is the 2.55 Classic Flap in rare metallic copper python. The bag is inspired by Coco Chanel's original 2.55 Flap Bag design which got its name from its February 1955 debut. The 2.55 changed handbag history, as it was Chanel's first shoulder-carried bag and created the first time that it was acceptable for women of social status to carry a bag on their shoulders. This stunning bag is constructed of metallic python and features Coco Chanel's Mademoiselle Lock (which is said to have got its name from the fact that Coco Chanel never married) that the original 2.55 Flap Bag had prior to the 1980s introduction of the Double CC lock. The bag has antiqued bronze hardware and the full chain strap of the original 2.55 as opposed to the modern leather-woven chain straps of the Classic Flaps. The chain strap also has two charms attached, a bronze metal and maroon enamel fish and a bronze cat with black enamel stripes and rhinestone eyes. The double flaps open to reveal a black microsuede lined interior with one zipped "love note" pocket on the inside of the flap (it is said that Coco created this pocket as a secret spot to hide her love letters), three slit pockets, and one lipstick pocket. This gorgeous statement bag is a collector's dream, as it is an incredibly rare piece with a wonderful history. This bag also has wonderful investment potential, as Chanel constrains its supply, regularly raises prices and is generally regarded as a luxury favorite on the resale market and hard to find versions regularly sell for above their original retail prices. This bag measures 10" x 6" x 3" and has a 11" to 20" strap drop (can be worn long or doubled). The bag has a 13XXXXXX date code suggesting that it was produced in 2009-2010. The bag will come housed in a Chanel dust cover. Condition: The handbag is in overall very good condition with no stains, smells or scuffs. Clean corners, edges and interior.
