This cotton 20's redwork quilt is hand embroidered and hand quilted, with a cat, rabbit, dog, pig, bird and other pictorial scenes. The center block says simply, "Martha age 6, born June 11, 1920." This was made for -- with or without the help of -- a small child. The dense, detailed quilting was obviously done by a seasoned quilter.
It measures 66" X 74" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of small, inconspicuous spots and no wear.
The quilting is SUPERB, with straight line, grid, and stylized oak reel and clover designs quilted throughout at an even 10-12 stitches to the inch.
The back is white, the hand stitched binding is solid red, and the batting is thin.
