Jacqueline Kennedy Signed FDC of the Launch of the USS Lafayette

Jacqueline Kennedy Signed First Day Cover for the launch of the USS Lafayette, 6.5" x 3.75". Accompanied by a letter from the Secretary to Mrs Kennedy, dated "June 28, 1965" describing that enclosed are the signed First Day Covers for this event. Fine condition, signed by Jacqueline with a neat signature along the lower edge.

USS Lafayette (1848), was built in 1848 as Aleck Scott, and purchased by the US Navy on 18 May 1862 and renamed Lafayette 8 September 1862. She was decommissioned in July 1865 and sold. USS Lafayette (AP-53), was launched as the French built Normandie and seized from France in 1941.
