Description
A nicely framed Coptic textile fragment, Egypt, c. 5th - 7th Century AD, linen and wool, containing a strip with a lovely floral pattern bordered by vivid red, likely the major color of the garment. Strip measures 5 x 2 in (12.7 x 5.1 cm) and is nicely mounted within a shadow box with tiered matting and label. Frame measures 10 1/8 x 7 7/8 x 1 3/4 in (25.7 x 20 x 4.4 cm). Ex collection of James Akers, Maryland; Ex Los Angeles private collection.
