A ROCOCO REVIVAL STYLE SILVERPLATED AND LIDDED PUNCH URN, 20TH CENTURY, of bombé vasiform with a circular twist gadrooned lid surmounted by a bacchanalian maiden's bust finial, above a detachable rim cast as a pierced band of stylized rocaille interspersed with "C" scrolled cartouches within similar side cartouches topped by open trellis panels and suspending blossoming branches, over the removable bombé vessel with sides centering engraved curling leafy details enclosing trellis reserves and floral stems, encased by a conforming reticulated shell of swirling acanthine foliage and flowering clusters centering seated cherub figures clutching blank armorial oval shields, flanked by pierced auricular handles supporting a seated figure of Bacchus wearing a grape leaf-and-cluster diadem and spotted leopard's skin pelt while holding his thyrsus and toasting aloft with his wine cup, opposite a matching handle with a seated figure of the muse Terpsichore wearing billowing robes and playing her lyre, raised on a stepped circular base modeled with twist gadrooned decoration enclosed by undulating foliage over rocaille ending on scrolling feet. Nicely cast with appropriate details and in good condition with some normal light surface scratches from use and polish residue in crevices, otherwise good shape. The lid and rim are removable so as to be able to remove the bombe urn. Terpsichore's lyre is lacking the strings. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
