A QING DYNASTY UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND WHITE PUMPKIN FORM PORCELAIN EWER, SHIPWRECK CARGO, ARTEMIS LEAF MARK, KANGXI PERIOD, 17TH/ 18TH CENTURY, the flaring rounded rim over a cylindrical neck painted with lotus petals and watery leaves, ending before a raised ring and collar centering a broad peony tendril motif, one side mounted with a bud form spout of matching peony details beneath basket weave banding, above the lobed body rippling expressive leaves crawling with peony blooms, over a similarly decorated short foot with double rings and enclosing an underside centering an underglaze blue Artemis leaf mark. Height: 10 1/2" Width: 9" Depth 7 3/4"
Condition
Good condition for shipwreck porcelain artifacts including but not limited to expected dulled surface glaze, marine encrustation residue in crevices throughout, normal kiln firing flaws, frits, surface dust, and some marine dirt. Overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
