A NAPOLEON III GILT METAL FIGURAL CLOCK, "Arma Christi in the Hands of an Angel with Young Christ," FRENCH, MID 19TH CENTURY, gilt metal, a winged angel points upward, he holds the spear tips of lances and receives the crown of thorns from a young Christ, who gestures to an open bible at his feet, a romanticized biblical scene of the Harrowing of Hell, over a Roman numeral enameled dial, verso the clockworks marked "V. Pannard," and number "9951," raised on a garland and scroll tapered base with pierced scrolled feet. Height: 13 1/4" Width: 19" Depth: 4 1/2" Note: The scene, an interpretation of the moments after Christ emerges from hell, just before his Resurrection. Provenance: Lifelong Collection of Clocks and Antiques, Navasota, Texas.
Condition
Later gilt, some holes and losses, repairs to pendulum, no keys, some patina and overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
