A CHARLES X ORMOLU MOUNTED EBONIZED WOOD PORTICO CLOCK, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, the stepped rectangular entablature with a tapering molded cornice and plain frieze supported by four Doric columns topped by engine-turned gilt bronze capitals with egg-and-dart above stiff leaf-and-berry details, flanking a circular bronze bezel cast in relief with a swan issuing flowering tendrils ending with a pair of crested birds suspending a blossoming swag, enclosing black Roman chapters and blued steel Breguet hands over twin key escapements, centering a shallow relief dial face with a beaded floret within curling acanthus and paterae decoration, suspending a grille rods and swans pendulum ending on a bob cast in relief with curling foliate paterae centering a large stylized floret numbered "298," verso brass clockworks stamped "B 298 / 7-7 / LD 589," and raised on a conforming base and angle trimmed plinth on disc form feet. Good condition for clocks of this age, materials and use including but not limited to normal scratches, dings, old repairs, some oxidized spots on bronze/brass parts, gilding rubbed in areas, surface buildup, blued steel hands have patches of light surface rust, black Roman chapters are worn, expected age cracks and black lacquered wood parts were restored within the last twenty-five years.
