Description
Published in 1759 by Universal Magazine, just a year before the city was surrendered to the English in the seven years war in 1760. Was a important British objective during the war. It’s capture would put a end of the war in North America. A beautiful and detailed map shows the walled city, a key identifies key building and sites. Major buildings like The cathedral of Norte-Dame, other ecclesiastical sites and the governors palace are clearly seen. Located on a Algonquin site known as Hochelaga. Founded as Ville-Maria in 1643 by Sieur de Massoneuve, only later called Montreal, Located on the banks of the St. Laurence river. Would be a major fur trading center.
