Item Details

Description

Scottish, 1898. Victorian era double natural horn dolphin form inkstand or standish having silver plated mounts on an oak base with pen-well, the plaque monogrammed "A" and one horn with a carved "H"; together with an Odiot (French, founded 1690) naturalistic sterling silver letter opener in the form of a leaf with a grasshopper. The inkstand unmarked, the letter opener marked. Approx. h. h. 12", w. 17", d. 9.75"; letter opener w. 10.25", total approx. weight, 3.43 ozt.

Condition

Replaced liners; covers are not present on inkwells; stable crack to base; likely previously having a bell; wear commensurate with age and use.
