Description
Vietnam Group to Lt. Col. Philip C. Wahlbom. He enlisted in the Army in 1956, became an Officer in 1962, and by 1965 was an Advisor to the ARVN 5th Infantry in Phu Loi, Vietnam. He did a second tour fro 1968-68 as Company Commander of HQ Co, 2-39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. During this tour, he received a Silver Star for refusing aid to his wounds and directing gunships to attack enemy positions which had his company under heavy fire in Dinh Tuong Province. Interestingly, his brother, an Artillery Officer, also did two tours in Vietnam earning a Silver Star.The Silver star is a numbered example with a wrap brooch, and there are a couple beer can DUI's present, to include one about communism.The two ARVN Ranger badges are also theater made.
