Description
Attributed to Manolo Valdes, it does not have a COA. Amazing art paintings, signed, nice decorative piece. Medium: oil collage canvas. 31 x 27 inches. Provenance: private owner form Spain.
Biography: Multifaceted artist, from his memorable days in the Equipo Crónica, Manolo Valdés has been involved in the art of dating. The recreational capacity and the taste for the material are notes that define the artist together with the nostalgia for tradition and the past, which after an internal transformation, makes it his own, personal and of unmistakable invoice. His works, like the present batch, are recreated in other moments of Art History, approaching Zurbarán, Ribera or, as in this painting, Lucas Cranach, among others. Valdés brings together a whole constellation of varied interests. An insatiable curiosity for images, which lead to an increasingly material and impassable cannibalism. The artist fights for the search for maximum economy and efficiency in expression, with a preference for the unfinished. In his work the detail appears as interpretation, making it absolute. What it reinterprets makes it modern, uniting separate worlds in time.Inspiration that comes from the past and the present, but approaching it from a new perspective. Inspiration that transforms the images of European culture into its own and that it repeats. This makes his work present the timelessness of art. In this painting, Valdés presents a visual game that induces the observer to investigate his cultural memory and recognize his own image of Art History.Figuration is the basis of his work, where we perceive influences with the pop movement. Patches patched, glued and sewn from burlap, especially material, conditioned both by color and material. Following historical behaviors, he uses oils made by Valdés himself. In his paintings there is a feeling of "tactility" in the treatment given to the materials, like a lavish palette, full, full of corporeality, of wide gestures supported by the large format.
